This is the way it works. SCF Pro-Bono worker need to double check that issues are handled. I know the city is overwhelmed. But when I look at property tax's I have high expectations on how and when issues are taken care of.
It is annoying when closed issues are in fact not mitigated. You do have to realize that there are only 4 people who paint over graffiti in Oakland! Four people!! Two of them just got hired back. I talked to them a while ago while they were working. I know not an excuse for a false closing of an issue.
Seems like it is time to email Brooke Levin and urge her to divert more resources toward graffiti removal.

Calls to your local council member would work as well.

Public Works should not be painting these box covers to cover graffiti. They should be try graffiti removal solution first. Peralta Elementary school children did this charming project years ago and most of these covers still look great if the graffiti is promptly removed.
Perhaps PWD should be obliged to publish before and after photographs of having "addressed this issue." My photograph shows that, once again, they did not do so.

Since there's been no change whatsoever, perhaps there should be an alternative response: "City of Oakland Public Works Department was unwilling to address this issue..."

We West Oaklanders have got to pay close attention to the Mayoral campaign leading to the 11/4/14 voting. Our new Mayor's #1 PRIORITY SHOULD BE to clean up the 1.2 mile stretch from the Emeryville border to Grand Ave along San Pablo Avenue. As long as the candidate offers concrete plans for a place to house the "street people" so that unhealthy, drug addicted, mentally unbalanced, homeless people are not just littering San Pablo Ave and its side streets; and provides funding to keep this area clean, I'm pushing a drive (going door door) throughout West Oakland Neighbors, West Oakland Green Initiative (WOGI), West-Oak High School Athletic Booster Club for him or her to win; gotta make sure WHOMEVER is elected Mayor addresses THIS area of Oakland first and foremost.
All the PWD workers have smart phones. Make them all registered users on SCF like ( OPWD 001) ect. Then they can close the issue with a photo. Why to simple I know.
