Description
There are no stop signs or traffic lights from 52nd to 45th st on Shattuck while Telegraph has two. As such, people speed down Shattuck and frequently blow through the four crosswalks without stopping while pedestrians are present.
It would make sense to install a traffic light at 48th or stop signs at the 49th and 48th St intersections to help manage traffic speed. Another option would be to make the crosswalks combination crosswalk/speedbumps.

Yes. This section of shattuck is filled with reckless drivers. Today I was nearly plowed down in the crosswalk at 44th - with my children and stroller- because no one actually pays attention to pedestrians on this stretch.
I also think there is a significant issue with the merging of shattuck and telegraph at 45th. Cars attempting to take a right on 45th off of telegraph are often blocked and ignored by the shattuck traffic that doesn't really recognize the right of way... Urg.
