I agree. In hundreds of cities, BIDs have been proven to work in organizing communities and businesses around quality of life issue. How do we go about organizing one? Who are the best elected officials looking over this area?
@ Mark - I'm glad to find a fellow resident who is interested in this. I've actually been in contact with Yvette Clark's office and very preliminary plans for a BID are underway on Nostrand. Real estate broker Barbara Alan-Smith is taking up the project but they are really looking for some locals to help out. The NYC's Department of Small Business Services has literature on how to start a BID: http://www.nyc.gov/html/sbs/downloads/pdf/bid_guide_complete.pdf
If you are interested, maybe we can get together with Barbara Brown-Allen and discuss ways to make this happen.
