Mô tả
Cars excessively speed on 25th Ave. NE, consistently throughout the day and night. We have sidewalks, but they don’t protect those getting in and out of their car parked along the east side of the street, nor do they protect those crossing the street to get to one of two schools and parks that line the west side of 25th Ave. NE.

Thank you all for your comments. This service request has been assigned to the Traffic Engineer to address the request for photo enforcement. The other concerns regarding speeding, revving of engines, and doing donuts in parking lots were passed along to law enforcement. If you would like to report traffic violations and/or reckless driving as it is occurring you can contact King County non-emergency at 206-296-3311 or 911 if you feel it is an emergency.

Thanks for writing in with your concerns about speeding and safety on 25th Ave NE. These concerns have been shared with Shoreline Police Department. The City reviews traffic safety holistically and citywide through a process called our Annual Traffic Report. This process reviews all collision data in the City on an annual basis in order to determine strategic safety mitigation projects to address problem locations. This data-driven process is important in order to get the most benefit out of the very limited traffic safety resource available, by prioritizing locations with a consistent history of collisions. Relatively recently, a high number collisions at 25th Ave NE and NE 150th Street resulted in the implementation of all way stop control to improve safety, however no other areas of 25th Ave NE have risen to the priority list in recent years. The Annual Traffic Report is available online at: https://www.shorelinewa.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/49572/637378391275930000
With regard to implementing Automated School Speed Zone Enforcement – this can only be done through Council action. The last time staff discussed this potential tool with Council (in 2018), it was determined not to be a workplan priority at that time.
With regard to other traffic calming measures, since 25th Ave NE is an arterial, it is not eligible for physical devices such as speed humps since it serves as an important connection for emergency vehicle response, trucks, buses, and high volumes of traffic. Generally speaking, speed humps are not appropriate for these kinds of streets. We will continue to monitor collision trends and traffic data.
