I would hope that the family who owns that home does exhaustive research into exactly why the fire trucks couldn't get down the street to fight the fire.

If they find out that it was definitively caused by the snow build up and vehicles being forced to park in the roadway... they should hire a lawyer and sue the city.

It's not like Troy hasn't known about this problem for months now.

It was reported on the news, that a car at the end of the street with a TRAILER attached to it was blocking the way.

This is a perennial problem in Troy - not just on Maple Avenue, but throughout the city where residents park on the street. Troy (unlike most other municipalities) does/will not declare a snow emergency requiring residents to move their vehicles off the streets so the plows can clear the streets. Since the cars stay parked on the street, the plows are forced to go around them and cannot clear the sides of the streets. When the vehicle owners come along later and drive away, they don't clear the space they're vacating, they just leave big piles of snow there for the next person to deal with. The city has a limited budget for plowing, they're not going to keep coming through to see who may have/may not have moved their car and clear the street. They go through once or twice and clear the streets. If residents want their streets plowed cleanly, they will have to move their cars off the streets.

What a tragic loss of a beautiful building! That street is too narrow for parking on both sides and should be restricted to one side only, good thing the people got out but they delayed the fire being put out by trying to play fireman themselves not to mention the risks they put themselves in. Please people let the firemen do the job they know more about it and it can easily escape you.
