i live out by the super 8 and i notice there is a very poor police presence out here enforcing the speed limits.This is notice to people who can't read the signs that indicate the speed these signs are not a suggestion but the law...the speed limit after the canadian tire is 60km/hr not 100 km/hr by the time you get to the wholesale club.This speed limit is 60km/hr until just past the suprer 8 motel.I have been almost rear ended numerous times due to ignorant people driving to fast in the city limits.My other complaint is of the lack of enforcement in this area.Only twice in 8 months have i seen a police officer pull somebody over here.The area after the canadian tire would be the perfect spot for a speed trap if any officers are reading this please start enforcing the laws before somebody is killed due to these reckless,inconsiderate imbecils

Enforcement of speed limits seems to be iffy at best. On tenth street east, we have vehicles (and in the summer, crotch rockets) tearing down the street at near highway speeds, day and night. Sometimes we'll have a police car sit in the school zones once in a while, but it would be nice to have radar out here at three in the morning on a Friday night. It would certainly make the city a fair bit of money in fines.

I also live out that way and you are probably like most others turning off the HIGHWAY . . . you dont pull into the turning lane and you start slowing down. You then watch in your rearview to see how stupid everyone is. Secondly, the city limits end at The Floor Store. Thirdly, break and enters are rising at an alarming and we just can't seem to get enough police presence to slow it down and you want them to sit on the side of the road and watch traffic???? Generally speaking, if there is consistent speeding in a particular area it would suggest the speed limit is too low. I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and hopefully you get a $200 speeding ticket that you are asking for to start off 2011.

To be honest, I think for what our police force has to deal with they do a pretty good job. They do more calls (per our population) than any police force in our province. I think our police department is just a little overwhelmed with the drunks, assaults, etc etc to properly control the traffic. Concidering how much our population grows on weekends, and check days over 80 percent of the people arrested are from out of the city, and over 90 percent are for some sort of intoxication. I think we either need the RCMP to be hiring more officers to help out in the city on high call periods, or the city to develop bylaws and curfews that again, take more manpower...in turn, increases our tax base

Everyone knows that traffic enforcement ( the only part of the operation that makes the city money) is no prority with this chief or the department

If we changed the speed limit everywhere there was speeding it would be up to ridiculous speeds all over the city. The speed limit is put there to make sure people are safe. My parents live out past the super 8 on Lincoln Park Road and I shop out at the wholesale all the time. I move over to the turning lane but I have also almost been rear ended. I understand that the police have a hard time covering every area but to swing by and patrol it every once in a while is not to much to ask.

I agree there needs to be some speed inforcement. The posted limit is 60km and doesn't increase until after the intersection and closer to Thorpe's. So is it absolutely nescessary to be going 80km by The Wholesale Club? I travel that highway every day and that is always a busy intersection and people are flying by and tail gating those of us that do the posted limit.
Slow down please.

Enforcing speed limits not only keeps the city safer, it makes money! A good cop in an area that is rife with speedsters will make the city money!!! What a concept, eh?

if you think you have speeders come out to RED WING ROAD and see the people race down it with all kinds of motorized vehicles .There is also a STOP sign at the railway crossing that about 10% of people stop at the others fly through and police live out here .So where does start and where does it all end

I don't think we have speeders in town, I know we do. Saying that ppl are speeding more in my back yard doesn't address the issue. Let's lobby our aldermen for a stronger police presence that actually enforces traffic laws!

Just for clarification, the area by the Super 8 motel is policed by the RCMP. It's not fair to be ragging on PA Police Service for lack of presence in that area when it's not their area to be policing.

Well, where exactly is the city limits sign? I know Memorial Gardens is outside the city limits, not sure about Super 8. So if the Super 8 were to burn down, would the PAFD not respond because it was outside city limits?

I don't see why people almost rearend others when there are 2 lanes and turning lanes...?...I've never had a problem in that area and I travel to businesses in that area quite often. I'm more P-O'd that us and our neighbors are repeatedly broken into. I have more of a problem with drunks in the park by the river! Speed within in the city is more important as well because there are pedestrians.
