There appears that a sink hole is forming under the road and sidewalk in front of my property.

Yes, VERY common in our area (at least). We've been dumping cement in ours (800 block 46th) every couple of years. I notice that the 700 block of 46th got genuine asphalt patches on theirs. Perhaps you'll luck our too :)
