I am just wondering why UPS and FedEx insist to deliver their packages to customers in the morning where nearly no body is there. Parcels delivered by these two mail companies should not be left in front of customers residences unless someone in the same building sings and receives the physical package. The atmosphere has changed now, and nothing is safe as long as things are left unattended.

You can't leave a Delivery company, that has multiple stops along a given route on a daily basis, responsible for due diligence on the customer's part. There are tools both companies employ that help a customer track and plan delivery, the customer is responsible for either having someone home at the time of delivery or informing the shipper or the person or entity responsible for shipping that a signature is required. It is shameful that we have to jump through these hoops, but there are ways to prevent theft that do not involve making a driver twist his or her route around to suit a customer, or even multiple customers.

This is a forum to let everyone else know to look out for their packages, not a chat room on drivers.

Unless the more expensive 'signature required' delivery option is used, customers are consenting to have their packages left at their residences by UPS and/or FedEx. Delivery companies are allowed to leave packages unattended at residences if that's the service that was paid for.

It is also a way to help our neighbors avoid some of the issues they come across. Many of these issues can be solved by exchanging ideas between neighbors, that I believe IS part of the reason SCF exists. Neighbors helping neighbors. If you take exception to something that was said instead of playing cop, report it as abuse.

One final note, I know there is an option on the FedEx website to redirect the package to another location. I rarely have packages delivered to my home address if no one will be there, if the option exists I would suggest people have packages delivered to work, or if possible a neighbor's door who will be home. Also, both carriers allow you to ask for pickup from their depots, yes it is inconvenient for those without cars, but it is yet another option. Part of our prevention strategies as residents should be minimizing the chance of theft, there is an aspect of personal responsibility that can help prevent us from being victimized. There is no way to prevent all burglaries but we can make it harder by doing what we can.
