We are seeking sidewalks/traffic calming measures on Brightwood Avenue between Stokes Lane and Rosewood Avenue.
This strip of road is consistently used as a cut-through to/from 1-440
(at Hillsboro), Hillsboro Pike, and to/from Belmont Avenue. The
traffic is very heavy in the mornings (with Christ the King School
drop-off and morning rush hour) and also in the evenings (CTK pick-up,
rush hour, people looking to get to I-440 from Belmont Blvd, etc.).
As cars park on both sides of the street, there is little space on the
road to to be shared with moving vehicles and pedestrians. Often cars speed down this street, putting pedestrians at further risk.

Yes, we agree. We think building sidewalks on Brightwood Avenue between Stokes Lane and Rosewood Avenue is an important issue for our neighborhood.
This strip of road is consistently used as a cut-through. We live on the 2700 block between Rosewood and Wildwood and pedestrians and cars can be at risk when traffic is at its busiest.
Our 11 year old son walks to the bus stop at the top of Cedar along with some other children and there is no sidewalk on our side of the street. It is worrisome with the amount of traffic up and down Wildwood and Cedar that cross Brightwood.
We also wonder about 4 way stop signs at the intersections of Brightwood and Wildwood and Brightwood and Cedar. So many cars come speeding down both streets over Brightwood because they don't have to stop.
There are also many cars parked on our block due to rental houses. It can make it difficult to see around parked cars at the intersections. And it is unattractive to have that many cars parked out on our street; many days it looks like a parking lot on our block. Very frustrating! We park in our garage and behind our house, and then renters or guests of renters often park in front of our house.
Sidewalks would help with these issues. It would slow down traffic for those who use the street as a cut through and require renters with 2 or more cars to park behind their houses. And the street would look much more attractive.

A new sidewalk on Brightwood from Gale Ln to Primrose Ave is under the current Strategic Plan for Sidewalks & Bikeways. This means that when funding is available, sidewalks will be put in.
